Bendlowe's Bugle
2020 COVID
Bendlowe’s
Bugle
Covid19 brought our activities to an abrupt halt from March 2020 and the feedback we received was amazing with so many people missing their monthly Meet & Greet. Sorrow was also expressed at the fact that we had to cancel the outings we had arranged.
By May 2020, we felt that we should try to do something to keep people connected – but what? We decided to compile and distribute, by email, a monthly Newsletter. Our May 2020 Newsletter was a mere one page. By January 2021 we were up to 36 pages – delivering over 40 hardcopies and sending a further 40 email copies. We had asked for articles from locals regarding whatever they wanted to write about. The response was mind-blowing. Within a couple of months our Newsletter had grown into a monthly magazine called Bendlowe’s Bugle and we were so thrilled and proud that it had filled an important role in the difficult and unprecedented times of 2020/2021. If you wish to read any of them, please click on the relevant link below:-
June 2020 when restrictions had started to ease a little, we delivered a card and yellow rose (representing friendship) to those that had attended our Meet & Greet. Yet again, the feedback/response was incredibly rewarding and we decided to adopt the yellow rose as the Charity’s emblem.
December 2020 saw us delivering Christmas cards and Christmas Cacti. Naturally, we delivered by observing social distancing but to see the pleasure on people’s faces was a sheer delight!
